The Wool Industry

British wool has a rich heritage and incredible value, yet it is often overlooked in a world dominated by synthetic fibres. At LMD, we aim to celebrate and support this tradition. Visiting local farms and collecting valuable fleece that would otherwise be discarded is such a rewarding exercise and results in, not only obtaining beautiful, rare fibres but also knowing exactly where the fibre comes from that I work with and seeing first hand how the sheep are cared for.

By working with small-scale farms and traditional mills, we help preserve valuable skills and ensure the welfare of the animals and the land they graze. Every fleece has a story, and every stitch carries a piece of that heritage.
Choosing British wool isn’t just about quality — it’s about sustainability, supporting local communities, and honouring the centuries-old craft that transforms raw fleece into garments of warmth and beauty.
Through LMD, we hope to share the story of British wool, encouraging awareness, appreciation, and mindful choices in the way we make and wear clothes.
